Me: Is it worth getting just one lesson? Ash: Well, it's much better than having no lessons. He was right. Ash didn't just instruct how to surf, he taught me about the ocean itself. How to feel the energy in the waves, how to respect the ocean as a powerful and beautiful force. In just one lesson he helped me focus on the emotional and spiritual side of surfing, not just getting on the board and moving, but really feeling the power of the waves. I'm very happy that we met by chance on the beach one day, if chance you call it.

Let me tell you something… I was riding my first wave after 1 class with Ash 🙌 I had 3 fantastic lessons with Ash and couldn’t be happier with the experience. Ash is an amazing instructor! My husband and I couldn’t have been more pleased with how our 6 year old daughter progressed over the course of three lessons with him. Ash was very thorough when explaining all the steps to getting up on the board and made it kid friendly! He adapted to her style of learning and threw in some fun to keep her attention. When in the ocean, he was always right with her and wasn’t far behind when she caught the waves! Some of our best memories from vacation were of our girl surfing the “big waves”(as she called them) and that was because of Ash! We would recommend him a thousand times over. Surfing lessons with instructor Ash would be the most unforgettable memory. 2 lessons with Ash were such a great experience. Learning basic understanding of a surfboard, how to adjust body weight to stay balanced on board, traffic rules, and manners at the Haleiwa surfing area. At the first lesson, I was in the group lesson of 3 people for 2 hours—learning basic things mentioned above was fun. However, I found myself wanting to go for a private lesson. At the second lesson, I had a brief review of basic surfing rules and went to catch waves. In a 1:1 private lesson, Ash and I caught lots of waves, and I flew all the way to shore. Without Ash's help, I would probably end up not experiencing the true joy of surfing the right way. Instructor Ash is caring, focused on students, keeping safe of everybody nearby, having a great understanding of how waves move, and having good timing to lead students to fully enjoy the ocean.
