Hands On! Discovery Center is a science museum at the Gray Fossil Site whose summer camps immerse children ages 6-13 in real paleontology. Paleo Camp lets campers dig at an active fossil site, tour the prep lab and collections, and explore geosciences and life sciences, with Tesla Coil shows and tie-dye activities. Camp runs about 9am-4:30pm.

There is a climbing tower that goes from the bottom floor to the top. If you want to see the dig site it is best to go in late spring and summer.

Outside they have a kids dig area and beautiful garden to walk through. We enjoy the arts and craft stations - they rotate the theme. If you visit, remember to cross the outdoor skywalk and visit the other half. The staff works tirelessly to pick up after the families ALL day. It’s almost always clean and organized which, as parents, we know is a ton of work. Recently the staff has been extra friendly, personable, and have gone out of their way to provide an excellent experience.

Our 6-yo particularly liked the exhibit where you could color in an aquatic animal, then scan it and bring it to life on a giant screen filled with other children’s creations. They really have a great thing going here and definitely worth the stop if you are traveling through or if have little ones.
