I joined the HSA this summer and I’m not looking back. Amazing community of sailors who are eager to share the love of the craft. Classes were fun and lead by confidence inspiring instructors. There is always someone fun and enthusiastic to go out with on the water. Amazing club.

Last summer I took the beginner and intermediate sailing courses at Halifax Sailing Association and had an incredible experience. The instructor for both classes, Chris, is a recently retired Coast Guard officer with 30 years of service and a lifetime of sailing experience. He’s knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about teaching. After his classes, I was able to rent and rig an RS Quest up in Vermont on Lake Champlain and confidently sailed it on a beautiful afternoon. This summer, my father took both of Chris’ courses too, and we sailed together in a friendly regatta with other HSA members. It’s a really helpful and welcoming community. If you have any interest in sailing, this is the place to start. It’s extremely affordable, accessible, and the people are great. Proud to be a member.

A great place to learn sailing 🫡 My instructor was in the coast guard for 30 years. I learned how to rig and run a sunfish and a Catalina 14.

Im a student of the basic and intermediate class. I was pleased to learn from their instructor Chris who has over 30 years of experience. We had classroom and in person demonstration of sailing maneuvers and rigging. There are also frequent membership gatherings, a women's team, and a youth group. This was such a great find.

Joined the center about a year ago, and took a beginner class and have attended different events over the past year. I have learned a lot and have made some great friends in the process. If you ever wanted to learn to sail, I highly recommend checking out their classes. Once you become a member, you then have access to the fleet of boats, with no rental charges, to go sailing whenever you'd like once you are checked out on them. The prices for classes and membership are super reasonable for everything they offer.
