The Good Spirit Foundation is a Christian, Bible-based nonprofit (incorporated 1984) that runs a free four-week day camp northeast of Hernando each June. The first week is intensive leadership training for older youth serving as counselor trainees, followed by a three-week session for younger guests (roughly 8:45 a.m.-4:30 p.m.). Activities such as archery, chess, computer games, crafts, music and reading are run in small groups or one-on-one. There is no charge; donations are encouraged.
