I must say that if you’re considering taking your students to this camp I would highly advise you read this beforehand. We were really excited to bring our kids here and were extremely disappointed in the teachings and views of the camp. If you have younger students or students whom you are bringing to encounter Christ for the first time, this is not the camp for them. The sermons were harsh and aggressive and in no ways reflected the love Jesus teaches us. Not only was an entire sermon preached surrounding current politics with rhetoric that isolated and singled out students and staff with differing views, there were also many insensitive and offensive comments made during the sermons. If you have students who are part of the LGBT community know that they will not be welcomed here or preached to in a loving way. You can have opinions on homosexuality but no grown man has any business making fun of children. There were insensitive jokes made about ICE that brought some of our campers to tears because “why would anyone joke about that?” The conversations had with my campers during this camp completely broke my heart and even hurt my own faith in Christians and the ways we live our lives. Ultimately we felt the need to pull our campers out of multiple sermons because they were inappropriate and hateful. We will absolutely NOT bring our campers back here ever again or recommend the camp to anyone. Regardless of your political views, church camp should be a place where these kids can feel loved and supported and this place was not it. CTR and Christians as a whole need to do better for the sake of our youth. *On top of all of this our cabin was infested with BED BUGS, originally the staff had us stay in the cabin even after finding some and it was only after finding more and threatening to leave that we were all moved to other cabins. They originally had asked us not to tell anyone else about the bugs but of course word got out and not once were we ever apologized to.

This camp is an exciting place to be. So much fun for all ages. Staff is genuine and works incredibly hard to ensure that everyones experience is tip top. Every single year there are improvements to the camp. I have stayed a numerous camps throughout the Midwest and I can say that CTR is one of the finest camps in which I have ever set foot. May God continue to bless this ministry!
