The Foundation for Free Enterprise Education, based in Erie, runs Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week (PFEW), a residential week-long summer business and entrepreneurship program for PA high school sophomores and juniors. Held in five sessions in July and August on the Lycoming College and Pennsylvania College of Technology campuses in Williamsport, students form teams that run a simulated manufacturing company alongside adult business mentors. Accepted students receive a full sponsorship, paying only a registration fee.

Going into everything I was pessimistic as I tend to be an antisocial person. My opinion had changed rather quickly. At PFEW you are given the opportunity to start on a new slate and it gives the students an opportunity to be who they truly are and aspire to be. Nothing about business camp sounds fun at first glance but it gives everyone the chance to grow professionally and as a person. I came out out my shell and can say I am much more knowledgeable and social now. The staff is incredibly friendly, caring and understanding for each individual attending the week long session. They care about your growth and want to see you succeed here and later on in your life. I’ve made new friends here that I plan on seeing the rest of my life and am forever grateful for the experience I was given to attend at PFEW. I recommend this opportunity to any student looking to grow professionally and to everyone else to volunteer here to be apart of the magic that Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week is.
