Flying Horse Farm is an incredible camp. My children, who have disabilities, truly felt like they belonged here—and that meant everything to us. It was so meaningful to connect with other families going through similar experiences, and the sense of community was genuine and comforting. The overall atmosphere was welcoming, inclusive, and uplifting. A special shoutout to the cook and her staff for their exceptional care around food allergies. Her level of vigilance and attention went far above and beyond anything I’ve ever experienced, and it made us feel safe and truly cared for. We are so grateful for this experience.

We can’t say enough about how magical Flying Horse Farms is. As parents of an autistic heart warrior, it means the world to us to have a place where we feel completely comfortable and confident sending our child. Heart Camp is filled with love, joy, and understanding and every detail is handled with such care. It’s more than just a camp; it’s a place where our child gets to be fully themselves, have fun, and feel truly seen. We’re forever grateful.

Flying Horse Farms is a wonderful camp that grants children with serious illnesses the opportunity to leave their sickness at the barn and have a magical week. The staff of FHF has worked extremely hard to make camp both comfortable and accessible for everyone who walks onto the campus. At almost every turn, there are well-thought-out accommodations that make FHF welcoming to all. The pool is one of campers’ favorite places to visit on a hot day. Although the pool has a deep end, the shallow side of the pool involves a gradual ramp into the water, making it wheelchair accessible and easy to get into. Connected to the pool is a sauna that allows for a gradual shift back to normal temperature upon exiting the pool, which accommodates campers that cannot easily perform proper thermoregulation. Similar to the entrance of the pool, almost all buildings on camp are level with the ground and do not require any steps or bumps to gain access. One of camp’s greatest accessibility points is the sensory garden. Located near the Well Nest is a garden of numerous plants including ones with cool textures, colors, and smells. This garden is great for children with sensory sensitivities. During moments of sensory overload, children can be taken to the garden which acts as a distraction and an opportunity for them to to calm down. Similar to the garden, the “purple people,” or members of the psychosocial team, are always on call around campus to work with children in times of stress or overload so they can have the greatest experience on camp. Overall, Flying Horse Farms has worked hard to be inclusive and accessible in order to offer a magical camp experience to all children who walk through their doors.
