The Flint Hills Discovery Center is a City of Manhattan science and nature museum that runs Exploration Camp, a summer day camp for youth ages 8–13. Each week has a new theme with daily trips to different locations exploring the Flint Hills and tallgrass prairie; campers leave the center at 8:30am and return by 4pm. A separate school-year program, Camp Discover, serves grades K–2.

Powered by GoogleWe stopped here quickly on the way to Hutch. This museum is amazing. The underground forest is awesome! I could have spent the entire day here but we were pressed for time.
Went to the Discovery Center for the first time and ohh it was so much fun for my 3- and 4-year-old! We ended up getting a membership because there are so many things to do, which is perfect for kids. The people working there truly care — they’re kind, smiling, and create such a good vibe. An older gentleman there explained everything to us and was just so sweet to talk to. We love this place and absolutely recommend it!
It was a cold day but tons of vendors and the discoverycenter was warm and enjoyable. Highly recommended especially for the little ones who can play upstairs in the hands on zone.
My family is obsessed with the Discovery Center! So filled with various experiences, we have now seen four of their specialty exhibits and each one was interactive, fun, and soooo informative. My kiddos (13 and twins 8) have spent countless hours exploring and we always find something we missed the last time, even in the permanent exhibits. I highly recommend this museum, it is our favorite rainy day location!
It's a nice place w/friendly staff. I was a bit underwhelmed by the "great dinosaur area." Our 4yr old granddaughter loved this place! They did have a few cool play areas for kids.
