We attended a Learn to Play pickleball class at Fayetteville Athletic Club, and it was such a great experience! A huge shout out to Sean, the coach! Sean was engaging, encouraging, and an excellent teacher. He made learning approachable and fun, and my husband and I had an absolute blast. The class was well-paced, welcoming, and left us excited to keep playing. We’ll definitely be back for another class and will be recommending it to all of our friends. Five stars all around! 🎾👏

Pricing may be higher than other gyms, but to me the bennies are worth it. Towel service, a dry sauna, steam room, hot tub and cold plunge. Year round lap pool. Big indoor track. Courts of all types. Plenty of lockers. Free classes galore, mostly Les Mills (pretty much the gold standard). Health tracking is readily available, from scales to blood pressure to body fat %, they make it easy to keep tabs on your progress. Cardio links on monitors keeping up with your HR zone. Showers are clean. Locker rooms clean. Workout space clean. Have yet to see an out of order sign. People complaining about the towels are just silly. Grab another one, genius. Take three. They are free to use. Lots of little private areas if you're self conscious. Baby weights to olympic weights. Plenty of treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, rowing machines, workout benches, etc. Have yet to see an out of order sign. Wish they had a GHR machine, though. Another cable cross station would be nice too, as there is usually a line. Mostly Precor equipment, which to me is waaaay better than Life Fitness. Ellipticals are much less bouncy, which is great if you are older or have bad knees. Better preset exercise programs, too, imo. Yeah, the front desk staff doesn't know much, but these are young college kids interested in health & fitness. Give 'em a break. These aren't concierges doing it professionally. They can generally point you toward who to talk to. There's also a big freaking interactive TV where you can touch your way to the manager you want, so calm down Karen. Don't know about ending the membership, but when I signed up the lady said up front I needed to come in to do it. Planet Fitness is the same way and Anytime Fitness was about the same. Pretty standard in the industry. The upshot is you don't have a yearly contract. It's month to month, so no hesitation. But problems ending your membership don't equate to a bad gym experience, imo. I don't join a gym because it's easy to quit. I'm down 20 pounds since joining. BP down, resting HR down, Max HR up. Endurance up, strength increased. At the end of the day, isn't that really what a gym is about? All these people giving such negative reviews, I would love to see where they recommend instead.

Great place for pickleball. If you’re just getting started or want to get some tips to improve, I highly recommend Sean Pummill. He’s very knowledgeable and is a great guy! He tailors his instructions to your level. Highly recommend.

I have been a member of Fayetteville Athletic Club for many years. Today, I practiced yoga with my favorite teacher, Emily. After that, I decided to check out pickleball for the first time. The pickleball coach, Sean, started teaching me right away. He is very skillful and patient. I learned so much in just one hour, and I am so excited! I will definitely play again next week. I couldn’t wait to share this wonderful experience and this great exercise with my friends, along with such an amazing coach.

Joining FAC last year was a great decision. I joined for the fantastic lineup of classes, everything from mat Pilates to dance fitness, and It’s been fun trying new types of exercise. But the best discovery was that they offer pickleball courts as part of the membership. I started lessons with their pro, Sean, and I’m impressed at how quickly I’m catching on! His lessons are superb and his ability to quickly assess what will help my game amazes me.
