Farmers Union Heart Butte Camp

Farmers Union Heart Butte Camp is the North Dakota Farmers Union's residential youth camp on Lake Tschida near Elgin. Junior Camp is a 4-day/3-night session for youth who have completed grades 3–6, and Senior Camp is a 5-day/4-night session for completed grades 7–12. Programming centers on leadership, teamwork, citizenship, and cooperative education with trained counselors, and the nonprofit has run youth camps for nearly 90 years.

★★★★★Sabrina HornungTop notch counselors lots of great fun activities for the kids including dances, campfires, swimming, kayaking, games galore and even a talent show. At NDFU camp, the camp store is a co-op, and on the first day they elect a board of directors of their peers, conduct interviews for managers (who are also kids), meaning the shop is for the campers run by the campers-- with these activities, they learn about cooperatives firsthand. Here they can get snacks, drinks, ice cream and all that good stuff. The kids even have a news team and write up a newsletter to fill their fellow campers in on the haps at camp. It's a beautiful facility with a beautiful backdrop where kids can make lifelong friends and learn some valuable lessons along the way.
