We signed my daughter up for classes two months ago. So far, three classes have been formally cancelled in advance via email. We just showed up for one today and no one was there, with no notice. We are moving my daughter to another center.

The beginner class has one “coach” with way too many kids. They show them what to do once and then leave them to “practice” at a station while they show the next group. No form, no assistance on how to get it right. Not a good ratio. Coaches never speak to parents, I don’t think they know my child’s name after 2 months either. I’m also not a fan of 3 and 4 year olds wearing fame branded crops and tiny tiny booty shorts. It’s inappropriate in every imaginable way. I absolutely hate all of the skimpy clothes and bows all over this place. Why are bows a thing? We will be moving elsewhere where the coaches give a damn about individual kids actually learning.

My daughter (14yrs-15yrs old) was excited about joining this gym, unfortunately it was short lived. A few months after being picked for a team, she started leaving practice in tears. When asked what was wrong she said her coach was always yelling and calling her names. During her time there her coach called her fat, lazy, a lier, and that she should never have made this team. As parents, we tried to speak to her coaches several times to figure out what was going on. Each time we spoke to them, they would retaliate by pulling her out of a different stunt until she only performed in a small section of the routine. We brought our concerns to the owner and when that didn’t work, tried to talk to the coaches again which turned into them telling us how awful our child was and that she didn’t belong at Fame. When we got home that night the owner had kicked our daughter out of the gym claiming we had threatened his coaches. He at no time asked us for our side or attempted to talk to our daughter or any of the other girls on the team. Sports can be hard, but demeaning, bullying, and being mentally abusive to a child should never be allowed!

FAME is where it's AT!! My daughter was previously in another cheer program & she dreaded practice. She worked so hard & only experienced 1 competition a season. That's not FAME's M.O. at all. They hold several showcases and attend multiple competitions each season. They made every effort to live-stream events that friends & family weren't able to attend, as well as have out-door practices in huge tents when the pandemic prevented indoor ones. Even during full classes, she gets the individual attention and motivation that she needs to succeed. The coaches are world-class. I highly doubt anyone could receive better training/experiences elsewhere. Teams do trunk-or-treats & secret-santa events for the holidays. It really is a FAMEily you're signing up for.
