Fab Lab El Paso is a grassroots 501(c)(3) makerspace, founded in 2013 as the first Fab Lab in western Texas, that runs project-based summer camps for kids ages 8-17 on topics such as designer toy studio and biotech exploration. The lab gives campers hands-on access to digital fabrication equipment - 3D printing, laser cutting, computer-controlled machining and 3D scanning - and also delivers K-12 STEAM field trips, a 3D printing learning pathway and an accessibility make-a-thon. Programs funded by grants and sponsorships are offered free to the community, and the organization's mission centers on bringing technology and training to under-served communities along the Paso del Norte border region.
