Powered by GoogleFun experience for all ages; something different to do. Bikes are power assisted so minimal effort needed. You can take food and drinks along. Beautiful scenery along the way. Friendly staff. It's great to see Iowa using old tracks for something instead of them just sitting.
We had such a blast at Rail Explorers in Rhode Island that we had to try the one in Boone, Iowa! The scenery here is totally different—you pedal through the woods and over rivers and massive bridges. The best surprise? These carts have ride assist, making the 12-mile round trip super relaxing. Halfway through the 6-mile mark, you get to stop by the river for about 20–30 minutes to hang out and have a snack. We had to bundle up with jackets and beanies because it was pretty cold, but that honestly just added to the fun. The bridge crossings were so cool and gave us the absolute best panoramic views. Huge shoutout to the awesome staff who helped take our photos at all the strategic spots. Definitely worth checking out!
My wife and I did the 11 am tour in early June. It was very well organized. Both bridges, the high bridge especially, were as exhilarating as I imagined they would be. The railbikes are intuitive and easy to get used to. The seats appear to have been designed for utility and wearability rather than comfort but that was far from a deal breaker. All the employees along the route were friendly and helpful. I thought the railbikes might bunch up but that was not an issue. I would certainly consider doing one of their evening or lantern rides the next time.
So fun!! The rail experience was fabulous. We had a quad rail and had a blast. The day was not super hot so that made it even better. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Give this a go, it is fun for all ages.
First time event for our group of 4. Overall experience was awesome and the views from the ride were beautiful. Staff is very friendly and want to make sure your visit is great! There is a plastic bin on the railbikes to store your belongings (jacket, bottle of water, etc). There are even umbrellas on the railbikes if needed. They have put a lot of thought into making sure you have everything for your ride. I could see if people have noise/sound sensitivity they may want to bring ear plugs or noise canceling headphones. The metal wheels rolling against the steel rails do make conversations with fellow passengers challenging. I will bring a stadium cushion since I don’t have enough “cushion” naturally when sitting on seat. :) Looking forward to riding here again and visiting the other locations!
