The Elkader Opera House, a restored 1903 venue in the Turkey River valley, runs a week-long youth theater summer camp for students in grades 2 through 8 (roughly ages 8-13). Over one week, about 30 accepted campers learn lines, choreography, and stagecraft and stage a full production. Camp runs Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a Friday afternoon-through-performance schedule.

Very cool to see today. Was walking downtown and a local stopped me and told me the Opera House was being worked on this afternoon and it was possible to get in and see the inside!
I went to see a play put on by adults in the community. The building itself is so nice, on a sturdy antique, plush carpeted stairs kind of way. The play was good. The building was so cool. I would definitely go back if the opportunity was presented.
A beautiful restored small town theatre..
What a pleasant surprise! We were there for a benefit concert. Bright wallpaper and art hung on side walls. I sat upstairs where the view was incredible and ended up downstairs. I’m short so even seated it was easy to view stage. So many details: velveteen seats with metal filigree, grand entrance, tile work in bathroom. Singer too us back stage to see multiple costume rooms. We will find a reason to return. You should too
