Edge11 Academy

Edge11 Academy is a Rochester soccer development center at 280 East Broad Street offering individual coaching, small-group sessions, a select team program and its Faze Football Method. It was opened in spring 2018 by David Wright, a USSF 'C' licensed coach and professional player. The operator's own website returned no readable program content and no summer camp schedule could be confirmed; a local parenting directory claims summer camps, but the operator's site does not corroborate that.

David builds the entire person holistically. The mental, physical and nutrition of the athlete are all developed. He does not judge, he guides and recommends where the soccer athlete needs improvement. Edge11 will soon be a significant influencer of the Rochester NY soccer community.

My son has been involved with the Edge 11 Academy for 2 years now. He has learned a tremendous amount of skills and training. David Wright ( owner and coach) is amazing. He is very good at training and teaching kids the skills they need to be successful in soccer. I would highly recommend the program to anyone interested in learning or gaining extra support in the sport.

First, let me state that David is a very good coach, developing fundamentals and skills in a positive manner. But the biggest reason for my 5 star rating is the VALUE of his program. Some background first. My son plays soccer for the school. In September and October, he gets very good coaching and practices for 2 hours a day, 5 days a week. Lots of time, lots of development. He then participates in a town Soccer Club that runs from November through April for practices, and then May - July for games. They play in RDYSL. However, the practices from Nov - April are once a week. So he went from 10 hours of good coaching a week to 75 minutes of it. So what were my alternatives if he wanted more than that? Various elite programs around the greater Rochester area include Empire, Rush, Lancers, Lakefront and maybe others. Good coaching, good development opportunities and probably 3 sessions a week. But these programs will generally cost you $3,000+ a year, not including gas and hotel, etc. to go to the occasional tournament in NJ, Boston, Ohio, PA, etc. Again, good stuff, but a lot of money. And if your son or daughter isn't at that 'elite' level, then you'll have this expense, and they may not actually play much in the games. It's a good alternative, if you have the money and are willing to spend it, for the absolute best players. So for me, that's where "Edge 11 Academy" came in. During November and December, David holds 1 or 2 sessions a week. In January - March, there are 2 and sometimes 3 sessions a week when there's a game. In April, as RDYSL season starts to pick up a bit, it's generally once a week. So combined with the practices for the RDYSL team, he's getting 3 sessions a week on average; just like the "elite" teams. Almost as many touches with very good coaching, for 1/4 (actually less) of the price. My son has participated for 3 years now and the improvement in skill and conditioning is obvious. I only have 1 small warning. Your son or daughter has to be self motivated, at least to a degree, and attentive. Part of what keeps the program at a good price is that David (solo, but often with some of his assistants) are coaching a large group of players. If your player isn't paying attention during the instructions for the next drill, then they won't know what to do, won't do it well and won't get the full value.

In just a few short months, we have watched our daughters confidence and skills dramatically increase. Her foot work has come so far! The positivity of her teammates has done wonders for her confidence on the field! Thank you so much Edge 11 for all your work with her!
