I’m beyond disappointed with this YMCA location. My mom brought my 7-year-old sister along with two of her friends so they could move around and do something. She stayed with them the entire time, but staff told them they weren’t allowed upstairs, not allowed in the stretching area, not allowed on the track, and basically not allowed anywhere except sitting in the lobby because the gyms were occupied. I understand safety rules and supervision policies, but it felt unreasonable that kids who were supervised by an adult weren’t allowed to use any areas where they could stay active. The whole point of bringing kids to a place like the YMCA is to promote health and activity, and instead they were told to just sit down which felt petty and was very irritating. If there are strict age or access policies, they should be clearly explained when families sign up so situations like this don’t happen. Families should feel welcome at a community fitness center, not restricted from almost every space when you pay for it. Might as well make it a planet fitness since kids are such a tripping and security hazard.

We absolutely love the Door County YMCA! It’s an exceptional facility for both my workouts and my family. The pool and kids’ swim classes are fantastic, and Ms. Heidi is wonderful with the kids. The new spaces and equipment are truly exceptional, and the YMCA does an amazing job of connecting the community and bringing people together. Clean, welcoming, we wouldn’t go anywhere else. Highly recommend!

Beautiful Y with amazing people all around. The classes are fantastic and the pool is fantastic for all ages. With such a robust membership, there are always so many people to connect with. The universal changing room is fantastic for families with children allowing parents to co-parent especially after swimming. If you are looking for a space that truly has it all, this is one location in Door County for a true community environment.

Passed through the facility when I was nearby on a Monday afternoon. It was a slower day than I expected compared to green bay area facilities but the cardio equipment room upstairs is nice and comfortable! Not too big or crowded. The pool area was impressive. The sauna was under construction but hoping it will be open again. Locker rooms are on par for what you expect. A nice lobby and seating area by the front doors.
