The Danville Science Center, a Science Museum of Virginia location, runs four weeks of themed half-day STEM camps each summer: two weeks for ages 4-7 and two for ages 8-12. Sessions meet Tuesday through Friday, either 9:30 a.m. to noon or 1:30 to 4 p.m., and cost $70 for members and $80 for non-members per week, including daily snacks. Themes have included engineering (race cars, rockets, flying helicopters), science movie-making, and survival skills such as navigation, solar cooking, shelter design, and water purification.

We were disappointed we arrived too late to catch the show in the Dome, but still enjoyed all the interactive exhibits. The rain maze, the hurricane wind simulator, learning about ice core layers, and the reaction time and memory interactive exhibits were a blast too. The exhibits are good for all ages and not just children. Definitely put the Science Center on your to do list if visiting!

The building with the playroom, dino puzzles, and caboose train (right behind building) was a ton fun for the kids! The science of motion and water rooms were super cool too. Motion room had some fun activities for everybody!

Foam cutouts to build tracks and structures, a train station based play area for toddlers, a dinosaur area with foam cutouts to build dinosaurs. The outside tran are with the caboose was really neat. The butterfly exhibit was also super neat. To me the best part was all of the interactive science exhibits in the alternate building. Our granddaughter(2 yr) loved all of the activities and especially the rain maze. At 9 pp with out the dome movie(12 pp for admission and movie) it was a really affordable way to get outside in the beautiful river district!
