Crescendo Academy of Music is a nonprofit community music school in downtown Kalamazoo whose main summer offering for teens is Epic Broadway!, a musical theater camp run with Wellspring Academy. Campers get daily voice lessons on a musical theater solo or duet, dance class with a professional dancer, and training in character development and staging, ending in a Friday evening concert. It runs 9 am to 4 pm across two separate one-week sessions (June and July), open to ages 13-17 at $450 per week. Payment plans and need-based financial aid are available; the school also runs summer fiddle, orchestra and chamber classes that meet once a week for elementary-age and older students.

This is such a hidden treasure in Kalamazoo. There are world-class instructors, amazing classes, a wide range of musical options for lessons, and very friendly and interesting people. One of my favorite resources in town!

For the past four years my daughters have taken lessons at Crescendo and we have nothing but positive things to say about this organization. Luke Cook, cello teacher, not only is exceptional at teaching but he also has a way with kids that makes them want to do their best. Joanna Steinhauser and Darren Chan are great on the violin too. They are patient, yet firm and encouraging.

A great music school. The teachers are very qualified and relate well to kids. I have one daughter taking cello lessons and one taking violin, and have only rave reviews for our two years at Crescendo. The office staff are also very helpful, fair and knowledgeable.
