Cook Arts Center is one of two sites run by Grandville Avenue Arts & Humanities (GAAH), a nonprofit serving K-12 youth in the Roosevelt Park and Black Hills neighbourhoods on the southwest side of Grand Rapids. Over the summer it runs specialised camps including Summer Arts & Learning and Girls Rock!, alongside school-year arts programming in drawing and painting, watercolour, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media, sewing, clay, dance and music lessons. GAAH was founded in 1999 out of a collaboration between the Roosevelt Park Neighborhood Association, the Grand Rapids Dominicans and area residents, and is rooted in a predominantly Latino neighbourhood.
