Powered by GoogleChris is as much an artist as a tennis pro. A true student of the game, he understands form and technique and communicates it very effectively. He hires very high level pros to teach his methodology. Your child will become a better tennis player if he or she attend CLTA, period. Plus they'll meet other advanced tennis players their age and experience level in a very cool camp environment near the national forests of Vermont. It's a perfect blend for those who love tennis and nature! As well, the weather in the Vermont mountains in the summertime is perfect: warm days and cool nights. People travel there for this alone. CLTA is a classic tennis vacation destination.
Chris is a unique and gifted coach. He has created an effective tennis oasis in the mountains of Vermont. His approach balances elite training for juniors with genuine interest and respect for the kids as humans. Our son lights up on Chris’ courts because Chris takes the time to really see him and his potential. For our family, tennis isn’t just a sport it’s a way of life and Chris’ expertise, demeanor and philosophy are a perfect match for our kids.
We have known Chris for many years and both of our kids have been training with him. In particular, our kids have been joining his summer camp over many summers and truly enjoyed the comprehensive and competitive training there! We highly recommend both private training and summer camp with Chris!
I’ve been playing tennis for about 7 years now. I started with taking lessons before playing, so that I wouldn’t develop bad habits that I’d need to unlearn before I was able to grow further as a player. My coaches have all been very good, but frankly all of them were part-time coaches/full-time other things. The contrast between working with them (honestly an all-in-all good experience), and training with Chris Lewit, is like going to your general practitioner doctor, with going to a top specialist in a particular field. Chris has been able to make observations and corrections in my techniques that no one has mentioned before. As an expert in biomechanics, his knowledge of how that translates to the most effective body movements during play, has helped me understand WHY it is better to move one way than another. The movement technology in today’s sport of tennis is constantly evolving, but it seems to me that many instructors are mentally locked into one point history along that evolution. The advantage of working with Chris, is that when you are working with a specialist, you are learning the most current techniques.
I've been playing tennis all my life. I'm now 50 and play in ITF World Master tournaments. I had been looking for a long time for a coach that can help me improve the biomechanics, technique and strategy of my game. I trained intensively with Chris for a full week and that's exactly what I got. He teaches the most modern techniques, those used by the best ATP players. In just a few days with him, among other things, my backhand got a lot heavier, I gained a great slice serve (which I could never do before) and I learned how to attack the short balls much better. And also, which is very important for me, we had fun, we laughed and had a great time playing the game we love.
