As a formerly lazy musician (I always relied on others to count for me), I desperately needed help with rhythm. I'm a violist and felt that a percussionist would give me the best bang for my buck. Afterall, from my experience, they have to be good at counting. I'm so glad I found Jared. He is so upbeat and positive which made the lessons very enjoyable but he was also thoroughly prepared! He went so far as to draft personal rhythm exercises for me in between lessons. I can't express my gratitude enough. I'm a significantly better musician after just 3 months of lessons. I took drum lessons with Jared Chontos from 2018 through 2021 while I was in high school, and I couldn’t recommend him more highly. I had always wanted to learn drums but never followed through. That was until I went to a drum camp led by Jared. That experience sparked a passion for drumming, and from then on he became my teacher. Jared is not only an incredible drummer but also an incredible teacher. He has a way of breaking things down so they make sense, while also pushing you to grow. Every week I learned something new, whether it was technique, groove, or a completely different style of drumming. On top of that, he helped me find real opportunities to play with a band and at church, which gave me valuable practical experience.
