Children's Fresh Air Farm is a free six-week summer day camp for rising 2nd through 8th graders from underserved families in greater Birmingham, run as a ministry of Independent Presbyterian Church on a 35-acre site on Shades Mountain in Hoover's Bluff Park. Mornings are academic — licensed teachers lead reading, writing and math — and afternoons turn to art, music, drama, science and gardening, with weekly excursions to the Birmingham Zoo, McWane Science Center and Red Mountain Theatre. Healthy meals and snacks are provided, and campers are recruited largely from the church's STAIR reading program. It has operated since 1923.

★★★★Ryan MillsNice little park with a disc golf course that’s wedged in the park and the Children’s place. If you play disc golf here be prepared to search for disc in the brambles if you miss fairway on a few holes. It ain’t fun….so find the fairway.

We were at camp for a month, and in that month we learned so many things while having fun, they taught us about God and we prayed. The summers we spent at the Farm is etched in my heart and soul. The Farm is by far the foundest memories of my childhood, and serve as the back bone of my love of CHRIST. Ive always wanted to just thank whoever I needed to thank for a little bit of sanity that filled a little girls heart with beautiful summers.
