The Challenger STEM Learning Center at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga runs week-long Exploration Camps built around simulated space missions, robotics, coding and rocket launches. The 2026 camps are open to rising 3rd through 6th graders across four July sessions, split between an Earth science, chemistry, biology and geology track and a physics, astronomy, robotics and technology track. Campers also take excursions to the Chattanooga Zoo, the Clarence T. Jones Observatory, the National Medal of Honor Heritage Center and the UTC Aquatic and Recreation Center.

★★★Sherry CThere are two "missions" kids can do. One for older kids do one for younger kids. We did the Micronaut Mission for younger kids, so that is what I will be commenting on. It was not worth the two hour drive we took to do it. The staff was a lot of fun and very friendly, but I feel that the program needs some work. This would be a fun thing to do if you are already going to be in Chattanooga for something else, but is not an activity to plan a visit around.
