★★★★★Barry BurtonWe had a 4-day youth camp there. The air-conditioned cabins and dining/meeting hall were great! We also made use of the rock climbing wall, the giant cable swing, and the "challenge" pole - a telephone pole you climb up and stand on top of, then jump to catch a trapeze-style hanging bar about 6 feet away. There are also hiking trails and a large open field suitable for various activities. There is also a floating boardwalk enclosing a lake swimming area, as well as diving boards, canoes and kayaks. But make sure to arrange for an open-water certified lifeguard before using the waterfront!

My husband was shocked that staff was playing vulgar music last year at the family camp. They were sent home early due to COVID. Like everyone had to leave and was reimbursed which was surprising because COVID was no longer a pressing issue at that point. Companies blaming their issues on COVID is a pet peeve of mine.

★★★★★Ash HCamp Yorktown Bay is a summer camp run by the Arkansas Louisiana conference of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. The camp offers week long summer camps for children 7-17 starting with cub camp and ending with teen camp. The camp is very affordable at $360 per kid/week. The camp used to offer a week long camp for blind and visually impaired individuals and that was an amazing opportunity for those individuals. Not only was it a vacation full of fun activities for blind campers but was a learning opportunity for staff. The year they announced they would no longer be offering blind camp, covid hit and they had to cancel camp for the entire summer (coincidence? Maybe or maybe God wants them to bring back blind camp). The property is on the hillside of Lake Ouachita and has a peninsula. Due to its lakeside location, there are many water activities for campers including swimming, canoeing, kayaking, wakeboarding, and tubing. CYB has many other activities such as rock climbing, zip lining, archery, horseback riding, sports, crafts, the list goes on and on. Over the years, the nature center on the property has acquired many animals to inspire kids love of nature and animals. Some of the animals the camp has had in the past included a tiger, lemurs, bobcats, snakes, and alligators. It’s a great camp to send your kids to for a week or to work at for the summer.
