Camp Rotary is a 1,100-acre Scouting America property on a spring-fed lake in Clare, in central lower Michigan, owned by the Michigan Crossroads Council and used since 1925. Its Scouts BSA summer resident camp offers 64 merit badges, evening camp-wide programs, family-style dining hall meals, inflatables and stand-up paddleboards. Scouts attend for a week with their troop; the site also hosts school, church, civic and corporate groups year round.

From the start, the energy and excitement were contagious, and the staff clearly knew how to make learning fun for Scouts at this key stage in their journey. Program: The AOL program was packed with engaging, hands-on activities designed to help Scouts earn important Arrow of Light requirements while having an unforgettable time. From archery and BB guns to nature hikes, rappelling, and swimming, every day brought new opportunities to explore, learn, and grow. The mix of skill-building and pure fun was spot-on. One of the most powerful moments for us was watching our son go from being scared to climb a ladder to rappelling down a 40-foot tower. The confidence and courage he gained from that single activity was incredible—and exactly the kind of growth we hoped this camp would encourage. Staff: The counselors and staff were incredible—knowledgeable, upbeat, and truly invested in the development of each Scout. Our Scout came home talking nonstop about the archery range, the hilarious campfire skits, and the leaders who made each moment memorable. Atmosphere: Camp Rotary offers a great blend of rustic outdoor adventure and thoughtful structure. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, and the meals were filling and kid-friendly. The campfires on the first and last nights were especially memorable—full of laughter, songs, and that classic Scouting spirit that makes such a lasting impression. Growth and Independence: Our Scout gained a solid understanding of the patrol method and what it means to work together as a team. The camp created opportunities for leadership, cooperation, and responsibility in a setting that still felt like summer fun. Final Verdict: Camp Rotary’s AOL Camp isn’t just another step on the Scouting trail—it’s a rite of passage. Our Scout left with new skills, great friends, and a stronger sense of self. We highly recommend it to any Arrow of Light Scout who’s ready for the next adventure!
