Camp Rancho del Chaparral is a girls-only resident camp run by Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails, set on about 1,200 acres high in the Jemez Mountains between Jemez Springs and Cuba. Opened in 1969, its overnight sessions include horseback riding, archery, rock climbing, canoeing, and whitewater rafting, with age-graded horse programs starting in 1st grade. It is ACA-accredited and geared to school-age girls.

★★★★Heather WoolfMy daughter and I had so much fun. We understand the Girl Scouts are getting this little treasure back up and running since Covid. My daughter was a little bummed that she could not ride any horses, but the Girl Scout Ranger, Gypsy offered all of us to be able to pet her horses. I enjoyed the conversations with Gypsy as well. Our Favorite parts were the Donkeys (Burros) that roam the property freely and how friendly they were.
★Mike SThey advertised running water but there was not water when we arrived. Our camp consisted of 400 people. We ended up having to haul in water the whole time we camped. The area is beautiful but it’s sad how run down this camp has become.
★Suzanne DevergieAttended summer 2023. $600 for 3 nights at "giddy up." No windows or doors on cabin (no screens, curtain, etc.). Excessive moths, mosquitos, spiders, bugs in beds. Deplorable bathroom. Paid for horse experience, but rain caused cancelations. No alternate activities or structure offered. Complete and total waste of money.
