Rated top 5 camp in the entire Southeastern United States, out of ALL summer camps, this camp is the place to send young children to learn skills and knowledge. It helps if said child is part of the Scouting program or is a friend of one, as this camp is steeped in Scouting tradition. But what sets this camp above the rest is the leadership and staff of the camp. You can't buy that type of dedication.

We had a great time camping with our pack. Facilities were clean and well kept. Sites are set up as either semi permanent Tent or Adirondack shelters, but there was room for us to set up our own tents, which we brought. Be prepared, there is no cell phone service or wifi and power outlets are few.

This is a nice camp, however, has lots of outdated features in construction, platforms for tents as well as walkways and little wooden platform bridges across the creeks, just as the restrooms are not updated, and all with reading needs some renovation. This park has a wonderful potential, however, ready for being updated enough to fully enjoy it. we almost fell on one of the so-called bridges made of wooden plants across a creek. Also parking lots are way too far away from the camping sites , so you have to walk far and cannot easily unload and upload whenever you need. Hence the three stars only. really hope to see improvements and renovations in this park soon. We would come back only then. Natural attractions are pleasant, but I would say we expected more. And to be frank, the bathrooms were quite stinky at times, some of them did not have any liquid soap, had lots of rusted metal parts, some of the doors could not lock, also some of the restrooms did not have sinks to wash hands. A few bathrooms had showers, but also quite outdated. The tent platforms are very old the bricks that hold the platform kind of falling apart, we fell off one of those brick-stones as it was broken, and the metal pipes that supposed to hold the older type tents’ fabric that are attached to the wooden old platforms are very rusted and you hit your head against them every time you walk in and walk out of your tent that you placed on a platform. So probably best to put your tent on the ground instead of this old platform. Just bring some thicker plastic or rubber mat that you put underneath your tent, to prevent moisture getting into your tent. Also important: there is absolutely no any cell phone reception or Internet in the whole park, except the trading post which is a small store near the check-in place. Which I did not find safe at all in case if somebody gets lost and there’s no even way to call. So if you go with small kids, you probably should give them walkie-talkies on satellite or else.. as there is no way to reach anyone. I would not recommend it until they have this fixed. We saw if you want to fountains, but they were only in couple main central spots of the park and nowhere else, and others that was showing in other places simply did not work at all, so there is no way to wash your hands or take any sip of water. Seriously, this park needs major renovations and updates.

Had so much fun camping with the cub scouts here! The campground has its own lake and waterfall! My son had a blast playing, hiking, cooking and fishing in nature! There is no cell reception on the campground but that was ok with us :)
