Camp Odayin
Private
Camp Odayin is an overnight summer camp for children with heart disease in grades 1-11, where campers connect with peers who share similar health, emotional and social concerns. The nonprofit also runs a Family Camp weekend for parents, siblings and grandparents, a three-day Winter Camp in February with sledding and broomball, and a Moms Retreat. Registration uses a pay-what-you-can model so cost does not exclude families. The office is outside St. Paul and camps run at partner sites across Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Powered by GoogleCamp Odayin is truly a magical place for kids with special hearts. Last summer was our daughter’s first experience. She bravely traveled four hours away without knowing anyone, and came home full of stories, new friendships, and so much more confidence. For the first time, she was surrounded by other heart kids who just get it. Since then, we’ve attended Family Camp and she recently returned from Winter Camp. Each experience just as special as the last! The staff and volunteers pour their hearts into everything they do. What an incredible gift this camp is!
Odayin is amazing. From Sara's leadership to the volunteer counselors and medical professionals who make fun happen at camp, everyone at Odayin truly provides a warm, inclusive and uplifting environment for its heart heroes. Odayin is also more than just a camp experience - it's a life-changing opportunity for kids with heart conditions to grow, feel welcome and thrive. Thank you for all that you do!
This camp has been so impactful for our family! We first learned about the camp 4 years ago and attended our first camp that same year. Our daughter, only 6 at the time, made connections with kids that are still friends to this day. And as parents we have made friends as well. The bonds are so strong that we now see these families outside of camp as well. It is so impactful to have a place just for families with our special circumstances. It's not always easy for find that in our everyday lives, especially when diagnoses are unique. We met a lot of new families at the most recent Family Camp, and it was wonderful to watch in real time how impactful this organization was already making on their lives. If you have a child with a heart condition I urge you to explore Camp Odayin. There are so many amazing programs and opportunities for families. I just got home and I'm already looking forward to next year!
This camp is an absolute blessing. There is a high number of experienced staff/nurses to camper ratio and a wonderful variety of activities that all campers will have many things to enjoy. Our son has spoken so highly of the camp and cannot wait to come back next year!
Our daughter has found a community at Camp Odayin that helps her know she is not alone with her heart disease. She has friends to call when she needs to talk; she could have never met them in any other way. And the BEST part is that they can just be kids and have the absolute best time being kids doing what they can in a safe, cardiology-monitored environment. She is SO proud to wear her Odayin hats and use her Odayin water bottles. Camp Odayin has given her confidence to own who she is as a human, not just be the kid who has heart disease.
