Camp Michigania
Private
Camp Michigania is the University of Michigan Alumni Association's family camp, on 377 acres along Walloon Lake between Petoskey and Boyne City. Families stay a week in private one- and two-bedroom cabin units with their own bath, and the all-inclusive fee covers three chef-prepared meals a day plus activities for all ages across roughly 11 weeks of summer programming. Attendance is open to Alumni Association members and their families, so children attend with a parent rather than enrolling individually.

I was surprised by the quality and variety of the food served there. The grounds are beautiful and though I spent most of my time in writing workshops and attending readings, I could tell that there were plenty of other activities in and around Lake Walloon.
