I had an amazing experience at Camp McDowell during a Christian women’s camp with Capstone Church, where I was able to connect with God and build meaningful community with other women. The time spent kayaking, hiking, and enjoying the beauty of nature made the retreat both refreshing and spiritually uplifting.

Absolutely love this place. It is beautiful and peaceful. Plenty of things to do. This year we went to the environmental side and it was a lot of fun but big hills and alot of walking. Make sure to bring comfortable shoes and also high water boots for aquatics.

Camp McDowell in Nauvoo, Alabama, is one of the most peaceful and spiritually refreshing places I’ve ever visited. Nestled in the woods along the banks of Clear Creek, the natural beauty alone makes it worth the trip. From the towering trees to the quiet walking trails, everything about the setting invites you to slow down and breathe. What makes Camp McDowell truly special, though, is the sense of community. Whether you’re attending a summer youth camp, church retreat, or conference, the atmosphere is welcoming and genuine. The staff is intentional, kind, and deeply invested in creating meaningful experiences. Worship sessions in the open-air chapel feel powerful and personal, surrounded by nature.
