Camp Luz

Our experience with Camp Luz swim lessons was deeply concerning and unsafe. The student to instructor ratio was alarmingly inadequate, particularly during swim lessons. Our 3-year-old son, under the supposed supervision of these lessons, managed to venture into the deep end of the pool unnoticed. It was only when my wife raised an alarm and yelled out to the instructor that this potentially disastrous situation was addressed. Fortunately, he was unharmed, but this incident starkly highlights the unsafe conditions due to the inadequate supervision. The swim lessons appeared to be overseen by young individuals who lacked the necessary experience and vigilance required for such responsibilities. There was a noticeable absence of adult oversight, which is crucial for ensuring the safety of young children during aquatic activities. Another significant downside was the restroom and locker room facilities. After our swim lessons, when we attempted to use the restroom facilities, we were informed that they were being cleaned. This was frustrating, especially as we had just finished our swim and needed immediate access. Furthermore, while my sons were changing in the locker room, the cleaning staff began their duties, which felt intrusive and uncomfortable for them. Regrettably, based on our experience, we have decided not to continue with Camp Luz swim lessons for our children. We cannot, in good conscience, recommend these lessons to any of our friends with young children due to the significant safety concerns we encountered.

Truly still one of the best places in the world despite the fact that it is road locked (by Kidron Rd and Route 30). It is truly a place where God is! Some of my most important moments of spiritual growth happened on these grounds and now I bring my boys back here most weekends during the summer to swim in the pool which is staffed by responsible lifeguards. Both my older boys went to boys camp this year and truly had more fun than should be legal! Thanks to all the year round staff, the summer staff and to God for continuing to use this sacred piece of earth.

I love this camp. We have been to this camp for two years now. Cabins are clean, bathrooms are great. Staff is nice and friendly. Several different things to do. Awesome for churches or anyone needing an escape and time with God.

I used to attend Camp Luz for 9 summers as a camper and 2 summers as a counselor. Every year I learned new and amazing things about Jesus that strengthened my relationship with him. That was the reason that I chose to be a counselor as I got older. I was able to make new friends which further improved my experience. We learned and played many fun games. I would recommend anyone with children to send them to such an amazing summer camp

I went here for the first time in 1984 for Jr. High camp. The facilities have grown by leaps and bounds, but the caring and dedicated service remains the same. I'm excited for my daughter to attend her first overnight camp this summer. For anyone concerned about over-zealous religious indoctrination, it's not a concern here. They are not overly denominational and have a subtle and gentle approach to spirituality.
