Camp La Llanada

We celebrated Winter Solstice at Camp La Llanada this year. It was wonderful magical. The atmosphere with nature left me at an awwww. The views with the sunrises were divine. The parking area could have used some lighting but the camp is a perfect stop. We don’t see any wild animals just squirrels 🐿️. Really enjoyed this trip and the new friendships made during Winter Solstice.

La Llanada is a wonderful place for an event - both cabins & tent areas, everywhere shaded by majestic oaks drapped with Spanish moss, nice view of the lake, a large swimming pool, and easy to walk anywhere. My only minor complaint is that some of the facilities seemed a little tired - needing minor repair, or fresh paint, or cleaning. The new fire ring / burn area is fabulous. Since I was there as part of a private event (AfterBurn) I did not have any direct interaction with management of La Llanada. This year (2023) was my second time there; looking forward to next year.

Camp La Llanda is a nice quite place. Group cabins are actually on the nice side when considering / comparing group cabins with similar type campsites. Kids activities are limited so be sure to investigate. Not sure if we went In the off season and they just had lots of projects to do or if this place is / has declined into decay. There’s newer buildings on the property but there’s also run down and what seemed to be abandoned buildings on the property. They also have an outdoor obstacle course and zip line that looks to have been abandoned a long time ago as well. There is a pool and a building ( not much in it, more of a shelter) for kids to play. One other thing that was a big concern was the fact that the campsite site next to or in the middle of a trailer park so other than a little fence anyone could potentially just come walking through the campground. We didn’t have any issues while we were there and it was nice and quiet we just had to make sure we had plenty activities for kids.

I absolutely love this camp. My group The society for creative anachronism Prince this campout several times a year. The facilities are always well-maintained and the grounds are well-kept. My only complaint would be the amount of ants. The facilities manager really should consider a pest control solution to cut down on the number of ants. Overall a very enjoyable experience relative to other camps that we have used in the past. I'm sure we will continue using this place for quite a long time.
