I was a counselor at Camp Joy for 5 years, and I have to say that it was a very rewarding experience for me. The kids all seem to have a good time, and there a lots of fun activities for them to do. One of the few problems I have with it is that the activities are the same for every age group, so the arts and crafts projects that the 7 year olds do is the same as the ones the 12 and 13 year olds do. Apart from that, there are plenty of other activities. Swimming, games, canoeing, fishing, nature hikes, a real farm the kids can go to...plus the food is good. If you are looking for a good place for your kids to go for summer camp that doesn't cost hundreds of dollars, this is a great one. I would happily send my kid here for a week of camp.

I haven't been there, but my son has gone with his church for the past three years, it is a wonderful Christian based camp, he has loved it and had so much fun! Every year now he gets so excited about going to camp. I wish more people in our area knew about it, most people only associate it with the Valley Rescue Mission, which is a wonderful organization and they send a lot of kids who wouldn't otherwise have a chance to go to camp, but Camp Joy can also be utilized by church groups throughout the area and our church is one of them. My son goes with the Freewill Baptist Church Association and he loves it. It is great experience for kids to just be kids, kind of like the old days.
