Powered by GoogleCamp Huawni has been a part of my family since 1985. Between myself, my husband and our three kids, we have a combined 53 years in those piney woods. If that's not testament enough to give it a try, maybe the passage below will give you the courage to send your camper: Camp Huawni is where I met my college roommate, bridesmaids, and life-long friends. Friendships born in those rustic cabins in the '80s thrive today in our group text thread that has over 25 women who communicate dozens of times throughout the year. We've hosted each others' wedding showers & baby showers, we've organized auctions for camp scholarships, and we've shown up for each other in hospitals and at gravesides. There's nobody I'd rather see in joy or sorrow, than my Huawni tribe. Give Camp Huawni a chance. Go in with an open mind, tender heart, and a big ol' water bottle! Simple fun is the best fun. Truer friends were never found. Nature is where kids are meant to spend free time. Let your child enjoy the adventure that waits down FM1645. "Camp experiences can be so vivid, so life-changing that they are remembered forever, and later events are unconsciously measured against those peak moments of camp." - Homesick and Happy: How Time Away from Parents Can Help a Child Grow, by Michael Thompson (great read)
Camp Huawni has been part of my family's life since the 90's, truly a home away from home. Rooted in long standing traditions, more of that "old school" summer camp feel, with a focus on having fun and making life long connections with other people. No phones, just good old fashioned play, outdoor activities, silly events, truck rides, sing songs, camp stories told by the best story tellers, and the sweetest "little red church" where campers can congregate and hear about Jesus. My life and my kids life are better because of this place!
A part of my heart will always be at Camp Huawni. I have been a camper & counselor here, and now my children are campers as well, coming back here every year feels like coming home. Best summer camp in TX.
My kiddo is a returning Huawni camper and has been going for the last three years, this Summer will be his fourth. He LOVES Camp Huawni. Here's what makes it worth it for me - the people are truly incredible, the camp is safe, and there are zero screens. He gets to be a kid with other kids who are being kids. It makes my heart happy. Long live Huawni!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The absolute best throwback summer camp experience! Camp Huawni is exactly what summers are meant to be—good, old-fashioned fun in a wonderful Christian environment. What truly sets this camp apart is the staff. They are simply unmatched—incredibly caring, attentive, and dedicated to the campers. It speaks volumes that so many counselors choose to return year after year, which creates such a consistent and nurturing atmosphere. They also boast the highest staff-to-camper ratio I've come across, which provides such peace of mind. I was initially worried about sending my anxious child, but they thrived and absolutely loved it. Seeing them gain that confidence and come home so happy was priceless. If you are looking for a place where your child can disconnect from the digital world and truly connect with themselves and others, this is it. We couldn't be happier!
