Camp Dovewood Is an awesome camp for girls who love horses and like to learn about God, Mrs.Richmond is the sweetest person you ever meet. Every time you go to this camp, it’s different different memories, different friends you make, different sports you get to try and all this amazing stuff you get to do. Camp Dovewood is a wonderful camp.

My daughter just returned from camp. This is the 5th time she has gone to camp. This year she was a Counselor In Training (CIT). So thankful for this camp and all the amazing experiences my daughter has had because of Mrs Richmond, Austin (her son) and Zoe (her granddaughter). The camp looked so wonderful this year. All the cabins had fresh paint, many had new tin roofs. The camp offers horseback lessons, tennis, ballet, archery, trips to the springs and so much more. I'm so thankful for the Faith, Hope and Love this camp gives to each of its campers!

We could not believe we were in Florida. The trail lead by Zoe are beautiful. Zoe is a lovely person that not only gave us a great experience overall. She rescued horses and treats them so lovingly. If you’re ever in ichetucknee springs or campground go horse back riding. You won’t regret it.

First thing you have to know is that there is NO AIR CONDITIONING. Not where the girls sleep and not in the dining area. The only relief from the heat is swimming. If that’s ok with you then fine. I wasn’t aware. However we came all the way from Miami and weren’t going to turn back. Second thing, it’s an all girls camp but there’s two teen boys serving in the dining hall. My daughter had a few conflicts as is normal for teens/tweens but her first one was about the boys. The girl next to her had a crush on one and my daughter told her he was ugly and they had a disagreement. I wasn’t aware or made aware that there were boys on premises. I think that’s a big error. Not that the boys are going to do anything bad or they shouldn’t be there but I should know because I have chosen an ALL GIRLS camp. I may have thought twice. Third the horses… my daughter went thinking that she’d have more than an hour a day access to the horses. For that, honestly I would have put her in a day camp closer to home. Lastly cell phones. They are forbidden for the girls. When I went to pick up my daughter I saw a girl that wasn’t with her parents using a neigh pink cell phone. When I asked the director she just reiterated that cell phones aren’t allowed. She didn’t seem to understand that I was 👀at a girl using a cell phone. Once the girl saw I noticed she put it away. Lastly there seems to be over-reliance on the camp counselors. We left my daughter with $40 on her account. When asked what was left no one knew. The counselor, a child have is $23 out of her wallet and said that was it. Seemed strange. My daughter has autism even though she’s low support needs and can be someone independent she’s vulnerable in the sense that she doesn’t understand money. No adult is supervising this. Lastly the gifts. My daughter for four good gifts from 5 below. She got a pencil and a rubber band. Again, some adult supervision would have been great here. It’s lacking. My daughter had a good time but we won’t do it again.
