My three daughters have attended Camp Carysbrook for years. We cannot think of a better place for them to spend the summer. It is the epitome of self reliance, grit, and fun.

Our three girls have experienced every part of Camp Carysbrook and love it all. They've done the one week intro and the full seven week summer and different length sessions in between. Aged through junior, intermediate, senior, counselor in training, and on to worker in training. Ridden horses, gone caving, and mountain climbing. In a modern world of technology distractions and endless coddling, this is neither - it is old school summer camp in the best possible way. Canoeing, archery, riflery, EARNED completion badges, team competitions, and more! Unplugged, roughing it, learning to work hard, seeing and being female role models that can get dirty and shoot a gun or start a camp fire. You want empowered girls that have earned it? Send them to Carysbrook.

My daughter just finished her sixth summer session at Camp Carysbrook. What can I say-- she loves it! Carysbrook offers the quintessential summer camp experience for girls in a safe and welcoming environment. It was hard for me, as a parent, to drop her off that first time (she was seven) and say goodbye for a whole week, but my daughter has thrived there. She has an independent spirit which Carysbrook undoubtedly helped foster .

Our daughters (8 and 10) recently completed the one week Intro to Camp experience at Camp Carysbrook. In short, they had a fantastic experience and are excited to return next summer for a longer stay! We first became interested in Camp Carysbrook because of its credentials (over 100 years old, American Camp Association accredited, huge variety of activities) and its philosophy (self-direction, self-discovery, and personal growth in an interdependent, supportive community), and I am delighted to say that it has been all of that and more for our daughters. Our experience began with the warm, thorough, and supportive lead-in process cultivated by the Director - both campers and their grownups have opportunities to connect, ask questions, and touch base in the leadup to camp. We felt even better about sending them as departure time arrived because of how thoughtfully Carysbrook has designed this new camper experience. Notably for first timers: new campers are also assigned a "Go-To Girl" when they arrive so they immediately "know" someone and can ask questions or go to them if they feel unsure. They really think carefully about how to cultivate a great experience. In just one week our daughters had a chance to try a huge range of activities they had never done before (water trampoline, sleeping under the stars with the horses, fencing, archery, riflery, drama, outdoor living skills, and so much more!) while becoming part of a vibrant and supportive community and making many new friends. Camp songs, evening programs, food in the dining hall...they loved it all! A huge part of this success is due to the incredible team - the ratio of campers to staff, and the skill and care of the staff for the campers in their charge - really makes the camper experience shine. The quality of the camp experience is a clear reflection of the phenomenal planning and effort that goes into cultivating an outstanding team. Ultimately, the proof is in the pudding - when we picked them up, one of the first things they both told us was that they wanted to come back again for a longer stay next summer. That says it all for a camper coming off their first experience at summer camp. We can't wait to see what future summers hold at Camp Carysbrook!

Coming to camp here was one of the best experiences of my life. I didn't want to leave! The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The whole atmosphere is one of simpler times. There are activities that cater to any interest, from sports to drama to rock climbing. I would recommend this camp in a heartbeat!
