This little place... Talk about amazing!! The rec center? "We're going to eat lunch at the rec center?" We sure are! And you are going to as well! Let me start off with the ladies at the counter, so welcoming, friendly and willing to cook our 4 adults and 3 kids anything we wanted!! And the kitchen? Absolutely SPOTLESS!!! Like you could literally eat off any surface in the place! While we waited for a short time for our food, the kids played with the air hockey, foosball, and pool table. To say it kept them occupied while the food was cooking is an understatement! Dining area was incredibly spotless as well! Food? Perfect! I had a delicious salad with plenty of juicy chicken, salad was very fresh and crisp, They also use Ken's buttermilk ranch which is a good touch. The kids had nuggies and fries which they devoured. Nachos were good as well, everything our party ate for lunch that day was delicious! If you frequent the area you know the food options are extremely limited... like there's nearly nothing. So if you have a family with kids and are looking for a delicious lunch and an easy way to occupy some time this is the place.
So my family and friends rented a beach house for a vacation not far from here. We went out on a quest for food. We ran across this place by accident because we were looking for something indoors to eat. At first glance, we weren’t sure what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was super friendly, and there were activities to entertain the kids. The kitchen was very clean and organized. The menu consisted of quick service (fast food) type items. The food was very good. Honestly, much better than many fast food restaurants. And the prices were awesome. If you are visiting the area and looking for a quick bite to eat, don’t sleep on this place. It’s well worth the visit.
GYM is rarely cleaned and the bathroom is cover in poop in the men's room and the flooding is wild. No respect from those using this place and no one really maintaining the GYM area. Its dirty, and some machines are missing screws. THATS not safe.
The rec center IS open. Cookin up lunch, but not breakfast yet. Gym is open 24 hours (with membership). Couple nice playgrounds for the kids, basketball courts and 2 baseball diamonds. Friendly staff. Plenty of tables inside, with outlets nearby, for us nomad travelers camped on the beach but looking for a place to squat to work! ;) Speaking of which, the Cameron library is closed, under construction, however the policy jury building has a small room with books which you can also work in. Nearby there's a Marina/campground Lighthouse Bend that is really nice and a good place to eat and work during the day (closes at 4 sun-weds, 8 thurs-sat.
