Camp Butano Creek is a volunteer-staffed Girl Scouts of Northern California overnight (residential) camp on 145 acres of old-growth redwood forest near Pescadero. It runs three 8-day summer sessions serving campers ages 5-18, who sleep in cabins and platform tents and take part in traditional outdoor camp activities. The property is protected by a conservation easement and also hosts troops and family group stays.

The schedule was balanced, with enough structure to keep things moving but plenty of room for spontaneous fun. Everyone had a role, and the energy felt welcoming and easygoing. The cabins and tents were simple but comfortable, and meals were handled smoothly. Volunteers were kind and organized, always ready to help without hovering. What stood out most was the sense of connection—people pitched in, shared laughs, and made space for quiet moments too. It’s the kind of camp that leaves you feeling rested, included, and ready to come back.
