Burgess-Rushing Tennis Center is a City of Lubbock parks-and-recreation facility with 12 lighted tennis courts, 16 lighted pickleball courts and a pro shop, offering lessons, leagues and tournaments. Its summer junior tennis camps are grouped for ages 4-6, 7-9, and 10 and older, and use organised play, group instruction and drills pitched to each age and skill level. Recent camp sessions have run weekly through the summer from 9 to 11 a.m. at about $40 per week.

★★David PaffordThis is the nicest tennis facility in town, but getting on to play if you aren't a school or tournament director is hit and miss - mostly miss if it's spring. Last three times I've gone even early afternoons on weekdays, they wouldn't give me a court. Today there were six empty tennis courts, but apparently some school had paid to reserve them all for the whole afternoon. They have also converted a huge number of courts to pickleball, all of which were empty but two. But you can't play tennis on those either.
