Brevard Soccer Academy

I am writing to formally express my disappointment and dissatisfaction with Brevard Soccer Academy (BSA) program. When I enrolled my son, I expected a structured recreational program led by trained coaches, with children grouped appropriately by age, size and skill level. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience. Many of the children on the team vary significantly in their size and ability, resulting in an environment where smaller or less experienced players are simply chasing the larger ones rather than learning the fundamentals of the game. Had it been clearly communicated that the program lacks trained coaches, structured training, and includes additional required costs, I would have made a different decision and enrolled my son elsewhere. As it stands, this experience feels misleading and does not meet reasonable expectations for a youth sports. Brevard Soccer Academy does not provide proper guidance, structure, support and training to parents who volunteer to be coaches. Imagine that you are paying to have your child trained in soccer then you volunteer for free to train your child and the rest of the children for free. Who is benefiting from BSA’s business model? Clearly “Not” the paying volunteer parents to coach, the regular paying parents and their children. Brevard Soccer Academy appears to rely on a business model that places full responsibility on volunteer parents without ensuring they are adequately prepared. While participants may sign an acknowledgment that coaches are volunteers, this does not remove BSA’s responsibility to deliver a structured program that provides real value and instruction to the children enrolled for the paying customers. Brevard Soccer Academy is a horrible organization that does not address parents concerns or it will not refund your money when expectations are not met. Stay away from this organization that apparently only values your money and not the experience and learning that your child will receive.

Go elsewhere. We tried both the rec and competitive teams and found them unprofessional. Either a lack of or non existent coaching. Preferential treatment, last minute cancellations, randomly moving practice 1/2hr away, rude and aggressive "coaches", parents, and players. Bottom line your kid will not play, learn, or walk away with much of anything. For the traveling team we consistently traveled 3+ hours away, stayed in hotels, and rarely saw our child play. Bottom line your kid will not play, learn, or walk away with much of anything.

What a terrible experience we had playing this academy for competition soccer. The parents are the most inappropriate and unsportsmanlike examples I’ve ever seen in my life. The “booed” a ref for appropriately yellow carding a kid with misconduct. The coach just sat there like a bump on a log and acted clueless. The kids were inappropriate and their language was awful. You would do a disservice to your children pay a dime to this academy. Shame on BSA and everyone involved. Do better

Unfortunately, my experience with BSA has been very disappointing. The organization lacks structure, with most communication and planning happening at the last minute. Through their actions, it’s clear they do not value or recognize the recreational side of the club. Volunteer coaches, who dedicate countless hours of their personal time, receive little to no support or guidance from the league. This lack of respect and appreciation is disheartening and sets a standard for how the entire organization is run. If BSA wants to foster a positive environment, they need to make serious improvements in how they support all aspects of the club — not just the competitive programs.

I had two children ages 5 and 7 play with BSA for the first time last season. We had the WORST experience. I understand these are volunteer coaches but our coach was a grown man picking fights with every other coach, getting into screaming matches with parents on opposing teams, never showed up to a practice OR GAME on time (so one of the other parents always had to coach). At one point one of the parents had to break up a verbal altercation in front of two teams of kids and parents between our coach and the other coach. I called emailed and texted all of the management with BSA and never got a call or email back to report my problems. This coach was verbally abusive to the kids and extremely sexist/demeaning to the girls on the team. Parents do yourself a favor and stay far away. We won’t ever sign them up for this organization again.
