The North Tempe Branch is a club of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley, the nonprofit running Boys & Girls Clubs across the Phoenix metro area. Recently we were just told that they are charging $60 per month for the after school program since a year ago. Beginning of August 2021, I had enrolled my child & nothing stated that we had to pay by month. So somehow my child was slipped into the 'teen's' rate which is free at 13 yrs of age. Mind you, my child is 11 yrs old & for the staff members to not realize this until I had brought up an email I received with this info, they wouldn't have changed the month-to-month fee. It's very strange how they will not communicate with members who pay the member fee. I had to unenroll my child because I know for sure I am not going to be approved of 'financial aid' for the program. I had thought this program is to help the community & kids, but seems like prices are rising & we have to think of other alternatives for my child. $60 a month is $720 a year! That could go to bills instead.
★★★★★Veronica BellLove them! The staff is great with my kids! Miss Debby is a gem. My son has adhd and can be a little bit of a handle full but they are great with him and know how to handle him. He has fun there and enjoys himself. They had a great summer, went on all kinds of field trips and I didn’t have to worry about them having a bum summer while I worked. Thanks to Mark, Greg, Josh and Brittany for the great summer.
★Melissa M.Took my kiddos there last summer and the place was unorganized and without strong supervision. Half the time they didn’t know who I was or if I paid or not. One of teen leaders also made inappropriate comments to kids and called them names! Such a disappointment for a great organization.
