Boys & Girls Club of the Wausau Area

My child faced repeated bullying that staff failed to properly address. The same activities are done every week with no variety for stimulation and development. the staff often seem unprepared and overwhelmed. It feels more like a basic daycare than a place focused on youth development. Definitely not what we expected or hoped for.

Hopefully the staff is better there this summer. They don't have any clue as to who is doing what and blame the wrong children often. Downstairs seems to be safe. But the upstairs has some bullying staff. Stay safe.

I go to boys and girls club pretty much every day during the summer and it is really fun. You get to hang out with friends or make new friends. They is a lot of activities to do at boys and girls club every day they is new activity in the art room, NPR room, the learning library room, and some time the gym. I love going on field trips they are so much fun. I just love going to boys and girls club almost everyday. The stuff are amazing if you are going through things and want to talk to them the will listen, I know this cuz I was going through I hard time and the stuff listen to everything I said and it really helped me get though it.

Most of the staff at boys and girls club are absolutely amazing. Last year some staff and volunteers helped keep them safe from one particular staff. I did not realize the significance of their actions at the time. They supported us in a wholesome loving way. I cannot thank them enough and they are no longer there. The problem we are having is from a red headed staff that has been consistently bullying my children by lying to other staff and members and also lying me as well. Falsely blaming my children and protecting children that had injured my son. This year she keeps trying to put herself near my children and causing issues again by lying and involving others in her storytelling. I understand mental health can be an issue, but if you are finding new ways to torment children, this isn't the job for you! The volunteers are better with honesty than what the staff is upstairs. If you need correct information, I would go to one of them. There are just too many safety concerns to call this a Boys and Girls Club. It's more like an overcrowded, understaffed cheap babysitting something or another. They really could use more kid knowledgeable staff and parental control. Unfortunately the kids have to protect each other sometimes. We will support when/if it becomes a club for the community. I have offered fundraising support.

Boys and girls was working well. Until I had to learn they are not adequately staff my daughter called me numerous of times crying because she was getting bullied but staff never did anything and had no clue she was even calling me crying. Then my son had some behavioral issues that needed to get addressed has he is under a disability but got numerous of calls to pick him up but never to address the issue. I personally had to ask for a meeting and no one addressed me on times or dates they rather not deal with a disability child. And take the easy way out and not deal with the problem. They lied and said they email but once asked to show me the email they couldn’t show me. Its unfortunate that my children had to encounter this facility and the lack of professionalism and care.
