I registered my 15 year old son to attend a camp in SLO summer of 2021. The camp was advertised for ages 7-17, however upon arrival we found that there was only 1 other teenager registered. All other participants were approx 7-10 years old. My son did not receive any specific-to-his-age instruction. It was plain to see that anyone over the age of 12 was not in the right camp. That evening I called Coach to request a partial refund. We paid $200 and live 5 hours away (stayed with family). Coach said he would commit to working with my son one-on-one the next day. He also told me that we should have signed up for the previous camp in Paso because there was "30 kids my sons age" (I wanted to register for those dates, but did not align with our schedule. Plus how were we suppose to know!?) The next day, I was told to come pick up my son because he would not play with the little kids (how can a 6' kid play with little kids!?) I found the coach sitting in a chair, outside of the gym, not working with my son and no offering of a partial refund. FYI, I am not a Karen. I feel that the 100+ little kids probably had a great camp, but my kid, being one of only 2 teenagers, was not in the appropriate camp and feel that coach could have provided a partial refund in good will.
