Birkie Trail Kids teaches children from age 3 through 5th grade to cross-country ski in weekly winter lessons, with groups set by age and ability. Young skiers start with the classic technique, and older ones may switch to skate skiing or stay with classic. Lessons meet at the Samuel C. Johnson Family Outdoor Center at the OO Trailhead of the Birkie Trail in Seeley, Wisconsin. The nonprofit American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation, which hosts North America's largest cross-country ski race, runs the program.
