Bethany Village is the fully accessible section of Camp McDowell near Nauvoo, added in 2015 and able to host 274 people with special needs — one of the largest such facilities in the Southeast. Its ten heated and cooled cabins sleep up to 18 guests each with communal bathrooms, and Parsley Commons adds six lodges of hotel-style accessible rooms; accessible paths connect lodging to the dining hall, fire pit and nurse's cabin. Camp McDowell runs dedicated overnight summer camp sessions at Bethany Village.

The facilities are very nice, we stayed in lodge 7 rm 2, the lodge rooms have plenty of space, the beds are comfy and the showers are hot. good kitchen space in the common room if you're cooking for yourself and who doesn't like porches and rocking chairs? The only thing I didn't like was you couldn't lock the room when you left for the day. But you could lock up for the night with bolt locks while in the room. We used several of the facilities spaces, the chow hall, hall hall, nature pavilion, fire pit, etc. Just a great space to learn in over all. If you are attending an event here, you'll be hard pressed to find something to complain about unless you are a holier than thou Karen with nothing better to do with your life.

It was deeply inspiring to be somewhere that, for a century, adults & children have explored/sought after/discovered their spiritual & natural world through play and stewardship. When you walk around camp, you may hear the cheerful cries of children on a playground; or the quiet chatter of adults around a campfire. You can find solace in miles of hiking trails or in beautiful limestone chapels. I would recommend this camp to anyone seeking a low-key, natural retreat with strong summer camp vibes in the best way.
