My 3 year old Son has been attending the Dolphins swim class for the past month. He started off absolutely petrified and didn’t actually get in the water the first few classes. Today he completed the entire class and can’t wait to see his Instructor Maddie J again. She’s a gem, incredibly patient, kind and makes sure all kiddos are comfortable in the water. I appreciate her so much. If you too have a lil scaredy cat, she’s your girl.

This place is great! I have only ever gone for the pool but the pool is awesome! The kids LOVE it here, it's difficult to convince them to leave! The slide is so fun and the high dive is a big hit! We've rented out the party room for birthdays which is cool for the kids and you can have food and drinks and bring all the gifts and still see the swim area. Personally my favorite spot is the hot tub and I like to go about once a month to just relax after some laps. Also, totally worth the $7 to go, you almost feel like you're getting away with something it's such a great price AND your pass works all day so you can go in the morning then back in the evening after a long day!!

ONE STAR – PARENTS BE WARNED: NOT A SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR CHILDREN Parents should seriously reconsider bringing their children to the Berthoud Recreation Center pool at Waggener Farm Park. What we experienced was not safety-focused supervision—it was repeated harassment and inappropriate interactions that undermined both parental guidance and healthy child development. I was helping my six-year-old daughter use the jump platform into the pool, which is clearly designed for jumping. I led by example by jumping first and staying in the water so she felt safe while pushing through fear and building confidence. Instead of supporting this completely reasonable, developmentally appropriate approach, the lifeguards whistled at us repeatedly, stopping us multiple times for things that posed no safety concern. One lifeguard told me that if my daughter couldn’t jump without me in the water, then she “shouldn’t be jumping at all.” That statement alone shows a concerning lack of understanding of how children develop confidence. On multiple occasions, staff directly undermined my guidance, including telling my daughter she could not use the rope to assist herself—discouraging problem-solving, independence, and self-trust. The situation escalated further when my daughter and her cousins were safely jumping and actively looking out for one another under my supervision. Instead of addressing me as the parent, staff pulled the children aside, singled them out, and threatened removal if they continued—despite the kids behaving responsibly and safely. Young adults in positions of authority should never confront or intimidate children while ignoring the supervising parent. The repeated whistling, targeting, arguing, and lack of respectful communication caused real emotional distress and completely ruined what should have been a positive, confidence-building experience. The staff came across as inexperienced and immature, prioritizing rigid control over child well-being and respectful engagement with families. We left immediately and will not return. Parents deserve to know that this is not a healthy or supportive environment for children, and the pool staff need serious retraining in communication, child development, and appropriate interaction with families.

Pictures say it all- big, clean, spacious, rock climbing walls, really large and well spaced out workout room, pool separate, gym separate, but all really large. Helpful and friendly staff .. outside has miles of opportunities for picnics, a skate park, playground, just everything ! A long walking trail. You could go couple miles if you wanted but if you really wanted you could go 50 miles! haha.. What a great addition to the community!

I think this is the best overall rec center in northern Colorado. It’s newer but I really enjoy the fact that they have everything here. There is a park and a skate park outside, along with a bunch of picnic tables that have a nice set of stringed lights above that is a nice touch. The indoor pool has a rock wall, big slide, a nice size hot tub, a kid area and a lazy river. On the inside of the pool it can get a bit muggy so they have garage sized doors that open up to the outside to keep the fresh air flowing through! They have a rock wall next to the basketball courts and gym for the kids as well. I think the upkeep of the facility is great and the staff was very friendly! I would definitely recommend this be your go to choice for rec centers in the area! I would say the only down side is that they close the slide at 7 when the pool doesn’t close until 9 and they only have the cliff jumps open for the first half hour of every hour.
