Just horrible. Families with young children dont have the same amenities as the older folks per policy but are expected to pay the same membership dues. Someone should open an indoor pool who want families.

This is the only place I’ve ever been to where I am not allowed accompany my 3 year old son to the bathroom. In the pool area, if he has to go during a swim session, he tells me. He needs help putting his wet swimsuit back on. He says “i gotta go potty” and I took him right away to the women’s restroom right there in the pool area, where it is OK to be wet. When I got out, the management told me I couldn’t being him in there, that instead I had to dry off, walk through the gym, all the way out of the pool area and back to the lobby to use the family changing room, because I wasn’t allowed in the Boys bathroom and he isn’t allowed in the Women’s bathroom. It’s completely out of the ordinary that a mother cannot bring her toddler son into the women’s restroom with her. We went back to the family restroom to dry off, and guess what? There was a single older gentleman using it. So we had to wait to use the only family changing room. Seems like they are so strict about their rules when it applies to mommy and her toddler son, but just anyone can use the family bathroom? He would have definitely peed his pants if we had not gone to the Women’s. They do not have a family bathroom in the pool area. Only locker rooms for girls, boys, women and men. Not a great option to bring your toddler to swim if you are a mom. Management, please try to solve this problem.

I reported child abuse to a baby not even a year old to management by and employee and they said it's survival training for a baby that don't understand English. Getting water in the baby's mouth and the baby's back was to the employee she was not paying attention and they told the police that it was survival training and he believed it. I could see from the start that the baby was very upset the moment it was put in her hands. Started crying right away and the women didn't cuddle it not one time and started grabbing it by one arm dragging it back and forth. Not even looking to see what she was doing. The baby almost stopped crying but then water got into its mouth and it continued whaling. They had video and theirs no way they didn't see that. Or the cop didn't watch it. When I tried to stop it and I gotten ran off immediately. I was Told to never come back and they tried to keep my money that I just had paid. But I showed them what I had in my wallet.

Very disapointed about this place. Clerk said the have their own policy and not accept us to get a day pass to have acces to shower. Front desk person said that our policy that it, bye. We travelling for 6 month now 2x week we visit YMCA and that the first time we face that. 1* nothing more

So sad….. today the “NONPROFIT” James J. Buquet Bayouland YMCA lost a 32 year faithful member! Despite paying membership dues for over a year and not being able to use the amenities; the front desk clerk forced my 86 year old grandfather to leave. His “crime”….? Bringing his two great grandchildren to enjoy the finally working pool after months and months of waiting. To make matters worse, he was willing to pay for their memberships and this prized Olympic size pool only had 3 people in it at the time.
