Atlanta Festival Academy is a nonprofit classical music organization whose Summer Music Institute is a two-week intensive for advanced young musicians. Students take private lessons, play in chamber ensembles and orchestra, and attend instrument-specific and chamber masterclasses with visiting faculty and guest soloists, closing with a finale concert. AFA also runs the Atlanta Festival Chamber Orchestra and the Atlanta Festival Competition during the year, and draws students from Georgia, the rest of the U.S. and abroad. Everyone got to know each other better, and it felt like one big family. The trip to France was very captivating and encouraged me to practice even more. The orchestra was filled with many talented musicians, and together we got to play pieces in different settings in France. I recommend this camp 100% because students have the opportunity to perform with other great musicians while having such a fun time.
