Ashland Productions is a Maplewood nonprofit performing-arts organization offering youth theatre camps year-round. Elementary campers take one-week showcase camps built around a popular movie, show, or singer, while middle schoolers audition, rehearse, and perform a Broadway Junior show in one-week production camps.

★★Heather MorningstarIf I could do two ratings, I would give the productions 5 stars (great actors, production, staging), BUT the theater itself, while a nice size, and great sightlines, is not comfortable for sitting for 3 hours. The seats are very low, not cushioned well, and many are broken. An older woman behind me needed assistance just to get out of her seat. Some serious upkeep is needed so the theater space for the audience matches the quality of the productions on the stage...

My 2 other favorite characters were the witch, whose voice and actions fit the role perfectly, and the scarecrow, who was amazingly limber. I have never been disappointed by a performance put on by Ashland Productions. I'm so thankful for this local cultural opportunity. Update: Tonight I saw "Something Rotten," and it was hilarious and musically entertaining. I did not know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. Very campy, with lots of references to other plays, and lewd remarks and actions. It even included tap dancing, which is a lost art. See it if all of this sounds appealing to you. Great talented cast!

I personally have met the directors and choreographers, and they are genuinely so nice and thoughtful with all of the cast, not to mention hilarious. My only hope for the future is that people keep donating so that they may be able to replace the creaky chairs :)
