So much fun! Perfect indoor activity to spend some energy and build confidence, esp on a crappy weather kinda day. My kids (7-11) had a blast. The auto belay is fun for both kids and adults, and the 4 story indoor wall is impressive! Worth the stop if you're spending the wkend and need someway to challenge and move your body.
Great recreational spot in downtown Erie. Multiple climbing zones including belay-harness climbing and bouldering (no harness required). There are multiple climbing courses covering a variety of skill levels and physiques and they are updated/changed fairly regularly. There are multiple training and community/social activities every month, as well as Yoga classes. There's also a pretty well equipped gym with fitness equipment from barbells to rowers. Staff are very friendly and helpful and patrons are usually pretty chill, I've never had an argument or experienced hostility in the dozens of times I've visited. The environment is certainly all-inclusive. Rental equipment is available including shoes and harnesses. Membership rates are reasonable and offer a variety of benefits, including free guest passes and I highly recommend if you intend to visit more than a couple times a month. There is also a small store offering equipment for purchase, as well as souvenirs, beverages and snacks, though you are permitted to bring your own. Lockers are available for personal belongings, though I usually just set my gear in the shelves that are available in whichever floor you're on. Restrooms are kept clean and showers are available as well. A great place to have a group activity, family outing or just a fit and active recreational activity for yourself. Highly recommended.
Fantastic day with my niece climbing at Ascend. Lots of bouldering options, which she loved. Employees are friendly & helpful. Facility is clean and well cared for. Other patrons were nice as well!
What a great addition to Erie, PA! I’ve been to Ascend a couple of times, and the staff always makes me feel welcome. As for those without any experience, don't fret, the staff will guide you through the whole process and get you climbing in no time. Gear (shoes, harnesses for auto-belay, and chalk bags) are provided for an additional charge. They also offer a variety of gym classes, yoga sessions, and summer camps for kids. Definitely a great spot to get your workout in, hang out with friends and family, or host a private party!
